Brink

live life on the edge

Quick notes in your Mac’s menu bar. Double-tap ⌘ from any app and a notes panel slides in from the edge of the screen your pointer is on. Jot it down, press Escape, and it slides away again.

Free · macOS 26 or later · Apple Silicon and Intel · on the App Store as “Brink Bar”

What it does

A notepad that lives at the edge of your screen

Brink stays out of the way in the menu bar until you need it. Then it’s one double-tap away, whatever app you’re in. The user guide covers all of it.

Always one double-tap away

Double-tap ⌘ from any app, use a keyboard shortcut such as ⇧⌘N, or rest the pointer at the screen’s edge. The panel slides in on the display under your pointer; press Escape or click away and it slides out.

Markdown, written and rendered

Notes are Markdown. See the text, the formatted note, or both side by side, and switch with ⌘E.

Task lists

Checklists of their own, with sub-tasks. Add a task with Return, check it off with ⌘↩, drag to reorder.

Tabs, panes and workspaces

Keep several notes open in tabs, split the panel into up to four panes, and switch between whole layouts in up to nine workspaces.

Find anything

Search every note, or jump to one by name with Open Note. Your notes show up in Spotlight, too.

Recently Deleted

Deleted a note by mistake? It waits in Recently Deleted for 30 days, ready to restore.

At home on your Mac

The Neutral style uses macOS’s own colors and materials; Edgy uses Brink’s palette. Light, Dark, or follow the system.

Private by design

Your notes stay on your Mac. No account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and nothing fetched over plain http. Read the privacy policy.

Terminal tabs need a small helper

Apple doesn’t let App Store apps run shells outside their sandbox, so the shells for Brink Pro’s terminal tabs run in Brink Terminal Helper, a separate free app, signed and notarized. Everything else in Brink works without it.
