Brink Pro

Notes are free for good. Brink Pro is a one-time purchase that adds more kinds of tabs, and you can try it free for 14 days.

What’s free

Everything for notes, for good:

  • Markdown notes, as text, rendered, or both;
  • task lists;
  • tabs, up to four panes, and workspaces;
  • search, Open Note…, Open Task List… and Spotlight;
  • Recently Deleted, Export and Import;
  • the New Tab page, and every way of opening the panel.

What Brink Pro adds

More kinds of tabs:

Brink Pro is a one-time in-app purchase ($9.99 in the US; the App Store shows your price before you buy). No subscription, no account.

Before you have it

Pro kinds of tabs still show: with a lock on the New Tab page, and marked Pro in the “+” menu. Opening one opens a locked tab, which says, for example, Calendar tabs are part of Brink Pro, with three buttons:

  • Start 14-Day Free Trial, while you haven’t had the trial;
  • Unlock Brink Pro, to buy it;
  • Restore Purchases, if you’ve bought it before.

The same buttons are in Settings › Brink Pro, which also says where things stand. Locked tabs are kept with your other tabs, and open unlocked once you have Brink Pro.

The free trial

You can try everything in Brink Pro free for 14 days, once per Apple Account. Start it from a locked tab or Settings › Brink Pro. It goes through the App Store, at no charge, and Settings › Brink Pro shows the days left.

The trial doesn’t turn into a purchase on its own. When it ends, Pro tabs that are open keep working until you quit Brink, so a running terminal isn’t cut off. After that they open locked until you buy Brink Pro. Your notes and task lists aren’t affected.

Buy Brink Pro

Click Unlock Brink Pro in a locked tab or in Settings › Brink Pro, and confirm in the App Store’s sheet. Every locked tab turns into the real thing, where it is. (A folder tab that opened locked asks which folder to show.)

Once it’s yours, Settings › Brink Pro says Brink Pro is unlocked.

Restore a purchase

On another Mac, or after reinstalling, click Restore Purchases in a locked tab or in Settings › Brink Pro. Your Mac needs to be signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought Brink Pro with. Restoring costs nothing. If Brink says No Brink Pro purchase was found for this Apple Account, check which account the App Store is signed in to.

Refunds and billing

Apple handles every purchase; Cynaptic never sees your payment details. For refunds or billing questions, use Apple’s Report a Problem page. If a purchase is refunded, Pro tabs that are open keep working until you quit Brink, as when a trial ends.
